Virginia Health Benefit Exchange Update
Virginia is transitioning its Exchange from the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) on HealthCare.gov to its own State-based Exchange platform (SBE) – Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace – for plan year 2024.
The Exchange requirements include:
- Agents must maintain an active license in Virginia
- Agents must complete a free training and certification course, which opened August 11, 2023, and should be completed by October 10th for November 1st exchange certification
- Agents must create or claim their agent portal – which is available October 10th
Important Reminders:
- Be aware of the upcoming certification deadlines.
- Kaiser Permanente’s Enhanced Direct Enrollment site will be decommissioned for OE 2024 as the new exchange will not support this function. It can still be used to sell 2023 plans, along with HealthCare.gov.
- Members currently enrolled in autopay will need to re-enroll in autopay when they transition to Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace. Members will receive notification from Kaiser Permanente on the necessary steps to take.
